KOFFIE
KOFFIE first came to wider attention with a powerful tribute to Fela Kuti at Amsterdam’s Paradiso. The performance quickly led to numerous bookings for the Afro-funk collective, including appearances at Oerol Festival and Dunya Festival.
The band’s breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of two albums, followed by a national tour that spanned three years. During this period, KOFFIE became a familiar presence at major festivals, including North Sea Jazz and Zwarte Cross. Based in Amsterdam, the band draws strength from the diverse backgrounds of its members, spanning pop, jazz, funk, and Afrobeat.
With albums such as Huntu and their latest release Kokon, KOFFIE continues to evolve its Afro-funk foundation. The music blends Latin and funk grooves with improvisation, delivering a sound that is rhythmically tight, energetic, and uplifting, while Kokon marks a new chapter defined by deeper grooves, richer textures, and strong collective energy.
