World Traveler
Steven Brezet’s research-driven approach and musical depth have positioned him among a new generation of internationally recognized percussionists. His work can be heard on the multi-Grammy Award–winning Snarky Puppy album We Like It Here, reflecting his ability to contribute meaningfully within high-level, collaborative musical settings.
For his Circle 9 release World Traveler, Steven brought together an exceptional group of world-class musicians to create an original suite of eight compositions and arrangements rooted in Puerto Rican, Nuyorican, and Venezuelan salsa. The album features vocalist Marcial Isturiz alongside renowned percussionists Pedrito Martinez, Luisito Quintero, “Little” Johnny Rivero, and Nate Werth, and is produced by Venezuelan composer, arranger, and trumpeter Oscar Cordero.
Diferenciado
Diferenciado is Steven Brezet’s tribute to the global reach and cultural heritage of samba. Deeply influenced by time spent learning from master Brazilian musicians, the album reflects his immersion in the language, culture, and rhythmic traditions of Brazil. Building on the success of his Circle 9 release World Traveler, Diferenciado expands samba’s vocabulary by blending it with elements of funk, salsa, ambient, and pop.
The album features legendary Brazilian vocalists Leandro Lehart and Wilson Simoninha, arranger Oscar Cordero, and the São Paulo percussion ensemble SP Ritmo, alongside guest artists from Snarky Puppy and Ghost Note. By combining ancestral rhythms with modern instrumentation, Diferenciado moves fluidly between buoyant, groove-driven tracks and more atmospheric moments, offering both traditional and contemporary interpretations of samba.
